St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH) is an acute care, academic and research hospital located in downtown Vancouver. With over 500 acute care beds in use and home to many world-class medical and surgical programs, the hospital serves both the local community and patients from across B.C. Its downtown location brings many of Vancouver’s tourists and visitors to its doors. As well, St. Paul’s also has a longstanding history of providing care to disadvantaged populations.

This state-of-the-art 300-bed centre replaces the aging MSA Hospital. At 60,000 square meters, the building is almost three times the size of the old hospital and provides MRI services, general surgery, nuclear medicine, renal dialysis, specialized obstetrics and nursery care, pediatric services and other specialized services. It is the first time in Western Canada that a cancer centre has been integrated with a hospital from the ground up.

The Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is in the Okanagan health service area and is one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals. Located in Kelowna, KGH offers high-level, specialty medical care including 24 hour emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic/paramedical services. Specialty services include adult and adolescent psychiatry, outpatient nutrition, and patient care quality officers.

Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) is one of 12 hospitals under the umbrella of Fraser Health. It is a regional referral hospital providing specialized surgical and medical programs to 1.5 million people from Burnaby to Boston Bar, as well as a UBC affiliated teaching hospital. RCH is also a community hospital serving the residents of New Westminster. Patients with complex care needs are referred to RCH from other Fraser Health hospitals.

UBC Hospital is on the University of British Columbia campus. The UBC Hospital Urgent Care Centre offers specialized treatment for non-life threatening emergencies by emergency trained physicians and nurses. The Centre also offers a wide range of diagnostic services and testing including x-rays, blood tests, ultrasound, CT scans and ECGs. UBC Hospital links to the emergency department at Vancouver General Hospital and other acute care hospitals across the region to ensure patients continue to have timely access to the services they need in the most appropriate setting.
